Chinese phone maker Oppo simultaneously announced today that it will be using the QCC3026 in wireless stereo earbuds that will be included with certain Find X flagship phones, and sold separately. Original design manufacturers (ODMs) will offer other manufacturers access to QCC3026 reference designs in the second half of 2018.

Now it is stepping up to tackle Apple's accessory business too: the Oppo O-Free is the latest competitor to Apple's $159 AirPods. The O-Free are truly wireless earbuds with a carrying case roughly the same size as the AirPods case, touting 4 hours of usage between charges. This is significantly less longevity than what Apple touts with AirPods, which are advertised to last up to 29 hours total across the earbuds and case batteries. They will also include translation features similar to the Google Pixel Buds, integrated volume controls, and a voice assistant for controlling music ala Siri. The Oppo O-Free buds are slated to go on sale in August in China for 699 Chinese Yuan, which equates to about $106.

The O-Free headphones will also feature Qualcomm's TrueWireless Stereo technology for better power management and connectivity. Oppo says that the O-Free headphones offer four hours of music off a charge, with the charging/carrying case able to offer an additional 12 hours of listening time. And like the Find X, the O-Free comes in both red and blue color options to match its companion phone. The O-Free will cost 699 Yuan (around $106 USD) when they go on sale in China later this August, but customers who are willing to shell out extra for the Find X Lamborghini edition will get a free pair of matching O-Free headphones bundled with the phone.
